Grade 7 Titanium (Ti-0.15Pd)
UNS R52400, GB TA9 — Grade 2 chemistry plus ~0.15 % palladium. That addition dramatically improves performance where ordinary CP titanium suffers in reducing acids and hot chloride streams: chlor-alkali, acid recovery, catalyst vessels.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Tensile (min) | 345 MPa |
| Yield (min) | 275 MPa |
| Pd | 0.12 – 0.25 % |
| Density | ≈ 4.51 g/cm³ |
Grade 7 vs Grade 2 — When to Pay the Premium
Oxidising media: both excellent, Gr2 wins on price. Reducing acids, warm chloride with acid contamination: Gr7 preserves the passive film — common practice in reactor internals and spargers. The decision belongs to your corrosion data, not marketing; bring medium, concentration and temperature.
Typical Service
Per published corrosion literature: hydrochloric and sulphuric service with oxidisers, chlor-alkali components, chemical reactor internals. Forms: plate, tube, welded assemblies.
