Grade 9 Titanium (Ti-3Al-2.5V)
UNS R56320, GB TC2 — half the alloying of Gr5, most of the strength advantage over Gr2, and the weldability and formability sports fabricators prefer. 620 MPa minimum tensile (published). The default frame, tubing and precision-tube alloy.

Gr9 vs Gr5 (quick)
| Property | Grade 9 | Grade 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Tensile | 620 MPa | 895 MPa |
| Yield | 500 MPa | 828 MPa |
| Weldability | excellent; as-welded ductility | good; gas discipline critical |
| Common duty | frames, tubing, fittings | structural, machined parts |
Supply Forms
Seamless & welded tube (the bike/frame world's entry point), bar, wire. Structural square tube from the same mill family as our fittings photos.
Uses per published practice: bicycle frames and components, sporting goods, eyewear, automotive tubing, marine hardware where weight-critical.
FAQ
Is Gr9 hard to machine?
Machines like CP Ti rather than Gr5 — sticky but forgiving; sharp tooling and coolant discipline.
Do you supply bicycle frame tubing specifically?
We supply Gr9 tube to published specs (OD × wall × L); frame geometry and butting are fabricator scope.
