Grade 1 Titanium (CP Ti, TA1)
Grade 1 is the most formable commercially pure titanium — lowest oxygen, lowest strength, highest ductility. Where Gr2 is chosen for corrosion, Gr1 is chosen when the metal must be drawn, spun or formed hard.
| Property | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Tensile strength | ≥ 240 MPa | ASTM B265 (CP Ti) |
| Yield strength (0.2%) | ≥ 140 MPa | ASTM B265 |
| Elongation | ≥ 30 % | ASTM B265 |
| Composition (typ.) | C≤0.10, N≤0.05, O≤0.18, Fe≤0.20 | ASTM B265 grade table |
What Is Grade 1?
UNS R50250, GB TA1: iron/oxygen controlled to keep it soft (min 240 MPa tensile per ASTM). Non-heat-treatable; strengthening by cold work only.
Grade 1 vs Grade 2
Same corrosion family; Gr1 trades ~100 MPa of strength for markedly better deep-drawing behaviour. If the part is formed rather than welded-and-loaded, Gr1 is the common-practice pick.
Forms We Quote
Foil & thin coil, sheet for vessels, tube for chemical service. Typical uses per published literature: deep-drawn vessels, chemical equipment, heat-exchanger plate packs.
